Kathmandu. The first cabinet meeting held after the formation of the new government under the leadership of Balendra (Balen) Shah has approved the ‘100-point agenda for governance reforms’. According to the agenda, the government is going to form a powerful asset investigation committee.

According to which, in the first phase, the government is going to collect, verify and investigate the assets of major political officials and high-ranking employees who have held public positions since 2062/063. In the second phase, the assets of officials and employees of the same nature who have held public positions during the period from 2048 to 2061/062 will be investigated.

Less than 12 hours after the government was formed, the government has arrested former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and former Minister Deepak Khadka has also been arrested. With this, the country’s politics has been shaken.

As mentioned in the 100-point agenda for governance reforms, the government is going to investigate the assets of major political officials who have held public positions since 2062/063. There is currently a lot of interest in who has come under the radar for the first phase of asset investigation.

Since the fall of the monarchy in 2062/63 BS, 18 governments have been formed in 20 years, including Girija Prasad Koirala, Prachanda, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhalanath Khanal, Baburam Bhattarai, Khilraj Regmi, Sushil Koirala, KP Oli, Sher Bahadur Deuba, Sushila Karki and Balen. During this period, 11 prime ministers, 42 deputy prime ministers, 155 ministers, 65 ministers of state and two assistant ministers have been appointed.

Among them, former prime ministers Girija Prasad Koirala and Sushil Koirala have passed away. Some deputy prime ministers and ministers have also passed away.
