Kathmandu: Malaysia is the main destination for Nepalis to work abroad. Millions of Nepalis are working in various companies in Malaysia. Some have reached there after completing the procedures, while some are working in Malaysia illegally.

The immigration department there has been arresting and investigating Nepalis working illegally from time to time. Meanwhile, the Malaysian immigration department has deported a large number of Nepalis.

According to sources, Malaysia has deported 18 Nepalis at once. They were returned to Nepal this week by a Malindo Airlines flight, the source said.

Those who will be returned to Nepal are Chand, Tamang, Chaudhary, Balon, Budhathoki, Shrestha, Tameli, Yadav, Sarki, Gharti Magar, Sherpa, Kanu, Ale Magar, Sunar, Rimal, Yadav, Limbu and Tamang. They were deported by the Malaysian immigration department on charges of residing illegally. The Malaysian government had deported 13 Nepalis last December and 26 in November.
